Microsoft has promoted Steven Sinofsky to president of the Windows division. Sinofsky previously led the Windows and Windows Live Engineering Group, and in his new role he will assume responsibility for the Windows business including both the engineering and marketing functions for Windows, Windows Live, and Internet Explorer. His promotion is definitely well-deserved: the man is often credited for putting the excitement back into the Windows product with the upcoming release of Windows 7 on October 22.
